Small Update 1/9/2010

I've had this phone a little while and so far everything is great. Internet access has been good so far from work and other small places I've gone too around town so far. The Touch screen and Scrolling on the Phone is a little sluggish at times but not unbearable unless your running alot of tasks.

1/2/2011

I bought the Samsung Intercept Phone not knowing what to expect. I've had Verizon Wireless Wireless since 2002. Our Current plan has 4 phones with no internet, and no unlimited texting, and we share 500 minutes and our bill is around 140.00 on a monthly basis. I started out with a AT&T Prepaid phone and the coverage was good in my Area but in my room I could never get a signal. My Brother who lived here with us at the time could not get a signal in my room either and he had Sprint back in the day.

I got Verizon and the service was awesome and I got coverage in my room so I stuck with them for quite a while. I don't have anything bad to say about Verizon. For the Past year I've been wanting a smartphone but I knew I was gonna have to pay more money. Then someone at worked introduced me to the Samsung Intercept phone and she told me she only paid 25.00 per month thru Virgin Mobile with 300 Minutes, Unlimited Texting and Unlimited Internet. I saw it on sale at Radio Shack for 199.99 and decided to try it out.

There is alot of mixed reviews about Virgin Mobile but the guy at Radio Shack told me that signal is strong in our part of the woods and the phone itself is pretty good (He was probably trying to make a sale). I Live in Whittier California a suburb that is at the edge of LA county and pretty close to Orange County. I also work in Orange County and get good coverage while on the job and areas around work. So far I've been able to get 3g coverage places outside of my house sometimes the signal is weak but so far it has not disconnected on me. The drops in speed have not been bad like a dial up connection.

I've had this phone for less than a month and Android is not user friendly OS. I probably would not recommend this phone to someone like my mother. I'm still trying to figure out how to receive Picture messages. The download button appears then goes away and nothing gets displayed. This is using the Stock Text Messaging program and still looking for answers. I was able to figure it out but had to disable Wifi in order to download the Picture.

As far as coverage goes everything is good so far. I'm still not fully satisfied so I have not dropped verizon just yet. I don't make too many calls so in minutes I should be okay. I don't travel a whole lot but might go to Vegas for my little Brother's 21st Birthday in Mid late January/February of 2011 so I will see how that goes. I paid $25.00 dollars for 300 Minutes, Unlimited Texting and unlimited Internet.

I had the Samsung Alias 2, and the LG Envy and was able to pick it up rather quickly. I got an Ipod Touch as Christmas Present in 2009 and was able to figure it out rather quickly. Android was a little more dificult to figure out even tho I have a tablet with the Android OS minus the Phone and Camera Features. I got past the crawling and am now past the baby steps and once I got to a certain point, I started liking this phone.

I did have one scare with the Samsung Intercept Phone. I woke up one morning and could not turn on the phone. I plugged it into the charger but still did not work and removed the battery and put it back in. It started vibrating and said battery was disconnected. I took it out again and reseated the battery and it worked. The charge on the phone to wear out a little faster than the Samsung Alias 2 phone but it's still pretty good.

The Jury is still out and will post updates if something changes. I'm still a little edgy and not sure if I should make the switch even after my 30 day trial on the phone expires.

I first discovered these tablets looking thru Craigslist hoping I could find a cheap Ipad or Tablet PC. I saw one on sale for 190.00. Then started looking for one on Ebay and saw all sorts of names and brands. I started looking for Youtube Videos and saw that all of these are slow. I decided to get one but wasn't expecting.

Android tablet

The Tablet arrived and I played with it a little and it was slow as expected but it was okay. The only problem was that I needed to use a stylus rather than my fingers.

The WiFi connection was very slow but my Ipod Touch has a very slow connection also. In general the WiFi sucks in my house. I used a usb ethernet plug and it went alot smoother. Of course the scrolling was still slow.

M70003 Series

I've heard nightmare stories of the Charger dying out after 10 minutes of charging. This one so far is good. I left it charging for 2 hours last night.

The Hard Drive Freezer Trick

Acomdata Ext Hard Drive

6/20/2010

Well I tried the Famous Freezer trick on my Acomdata External Hard Drive and I'm not sure if it really worked or not.

I left it in the Freezer for 4 hours and turned on the hard drive and still would not kick start. I left it on and fell asleep right after my experiment. Upon waking up on the Hard Drive was on and I clicked on My Computer and saw Drive letter G on the screen which was the Hard Drive. All my stuff was there and I was able to copy it over to my Hard Drive without a problem. The hard drive was up and running the whole day like nothing happened. I turned it off before I went to bed and the Hard Drive did not turn on again.
